The Student Systems Management Team works within Scheduling, Records & Systems Management, providing support to UBC faculty, staff and students.

Working closely with UBC IT and other key stakeholders, our team plays a central role in ensuring the security of student information and managing access to the Student Information System (SIS) which includes the FSC, SISC, SCMC and SITS as well as other integrated systems like Scientia and e-Payment.

Access Management

  • Managing user access to student information systems (SISC, FSC, SITS, OAMS, Scientia, e-Payment, etc.)

Application Management
  • Configuring new credentials, program versions, specializations, course subjects, or other curriculum in SIS applications
  • Managing and updating SIS applications including Sessional Evaluation

Business Support
  • Responding to SIS inquiries and incidents (e.g. basic inquiries and troubleshooting, Tivoli support, advanced SIS support, setup of test accounts, etc.)

Consultation and Business Analysis
  • Providing business analysis consultation to UBC departments requesting enhancements to SIS applications (i.e. business requirements and process reviews)

Incident Response
  • Responding to SIS issues or incidents including registration bots and data privacy breaches
  • Communicating SIS system issues to stakeholders (e.g. broad email communications, communications via SISC, etc.)

Problem Management
  • Responding to operational issues (e.g. duplicate IDs) and support for SIS Tier 3

  • Manage the Project Initiation Request (PIR) process
  • Support projects to enhance the SIS system (e.g. system upgrades, feature enhancements, bug fixing)

  • Auditing SIS permission groups and users
  • Ensuring consistency with FIPPA regulations, applicable legislation and procedures maintained by the Access and Privacy Office, UBC IT Information Security Management and Risk Management Services
