As President Ono indicated to the campus community last term, the University executive has been exploring ways to more effectively situate the university’s international portfolio within the University. One decision made is to establish a new senior academic administrative position: the Vice-Provost International.

Pursuant to Joint Board-Senate Policy 18, a search committee is being formed to recommend a candidate for this position.  The Okanagan and Vancouver Senates of UBC will be appointing faculty members and students to serve on this search committee on the recommendation of their respective nominating committees.

Interested faculty members and student should submit a personal statement outlining interest (No more than 300 words) and a recent CV to christopher.eaton@ubc.ca by the deadline below. I making recommendations, The Senate nominating committees for each campus will consider the following criteria:

• Past and current service experience and background, including but not limited to search/hiring committee experience

• Familiarity with UBC, the position in question, international academic affairs, and post- secondary educational administration

• Discipline and demographic balance

All nominations must be received by 4 pm on 2 February 2017.

For the purposes of search committees, "Faculty Member" and "Student" are defined as per the University Act.
