Elections are being held for UBC Okanagan and UBC Vancouver faculty members, students, and non-faculty staff to serve on the 2022 Chancellor Reappointment Committee.

Faculty Representatives

Positions for eligible faculty members to serve on the Chancellor Reappointment Committee are as follows:

  • One (1) person representing the UBC Okanagan faculty, elected by and from members of the UBC Okanagan faculty 
  • Two (2) people representing the UBC Vancouver faculty, elected by and from members of the UBC Vancouver faculty

Eligibility

Eligible faculty members are all persons from either UBC Okanagan or UBC Vancouver, as applicable, with the rank of Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, Professor of Teaching, Associate Professor of Teaching, Assistant Professor of Teaching, or Lecturer. Clinical, adjunct, emeritus, sessional, partner, and honorary faculty are not eligible.

Undergraduate Student Representatives

Positions for eligible undergraduate students to serve on the Chancellor Reappointment Committee are as follows:

  • One (1) person representing the UBC Okanagan student body, elected by and from members of the UBC Okanagan student body
  • One (1) person representing the UBC Vancouver student body, elected by and from members of the UBC Vancouver student body

Eligibility

Eligible students are all undergraduate students who are registered in courses on either the Okanagan Campus or Vancouver Campus, as applicable, in the 2022 Winter Session.

Graduate Student Representative

A position for an eligible graduate student to serve on the Chancellor Reappointment Committee is as follows:

  • One (1) person representing the UBC graduate student body, elected by and from members of the UBC graduate student body

Eligibility

Eligible students are all graduate students who are registered in courses or who have continuing registration in master’s or doctoral programs on either the Okanagan Campus or Vancouver Campus in the 2022 Winter Session.

Non-Faculty Staff Representatives

Positions for eligible non-faculty staff members to serve on the Chancellor Reappointment Committee are as follows:

  • One (1) person representing UBC Okanagan’s non-faculty staff, elected by and from members of UBC Okanagan’s non-faculty staff
  • One (1) person representing UBC Vancouver’s non-faculty staff, elected by and from members of UBC Vancouver’s non-faculty staff

Eligibility

Eligible non-faculty staff members are all employees of the University from either UBC Okanagan or UBC Vancouver, as applicable, not included in the definition of faculty member. Faculty member is defined as the ranks of Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, Professor of Teaching, Associate Professor of Teaching, Assistant Professor of Teaching, or Lecturer (excluding clinical, adjunct, emeritus, sessional, partner, and honorary faculty).

The second round of nominations closed at 4 pm on Friday 9 September 2022.

Instructions for completing and submitting nominations are on the forms themselves. Deadlines and word limits are strictly observed. Forms and statements should be scanned and emailed to UBC Elections at elections.information@ubc.ca.
