My name is Auritro Roy; I am a student of Materials Engineering at the Vancouver campus of the University of British Columbia. I am honored to put my name forward for the undergraduate seat of the Chancellor Selection Committee.
I am motivated to make this decision by a desire to be of service to the University; in the eleven months that I have spent on this campus, I have met people that have made me feel welcome and included, including the President Dr. Ono, learned the beginnings of my profession from some of the most intelligent scholarly minds in the world, and been privileged to live and work in one of the most beautiful locations in Vancouver, if not the whole world. These amazing experiences make me want to repay the University for its kindness to me.
Though I am comparatively young and inexperienced, I pledge to give everything that the University needs to assist it in the doubtless difficult process of selecting a new Chancellor and by doing so help in building a stable, modern, and inclusive University.
