Daniel Keyes is an associate professor of English and Cultural Studies in the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies. He served as the founding chair of the Cultural Studies program (2007-11; 2015-2018) and the first Director of the Interdisciplinary Graduate Studies (2009-11). Additionally, he served on Senate (2007-2011; 2014-2017) and as a chair of five different Senate subcommittees. In terms of senior appointment committees, he served on searches for a Dean (2011), Provost (2011) and Deputy Vice Chancellor (2005).

His contribution to this search committee would provide a sense of the institutional memory of the campus and its complex relationships within the UBC system and the Okanagan Valley. Keyes is keenly aware of the economic challenges facing publically funded universities and the importance of recruiting a Deputy Vice Chancellor to advocate effectively for academic freedom, diversity, and the continued growth of the campus’s research agenda.
