I grew up in the Southern Interior, attended graduate school at the University of Toronto, and worked in Waterloo for over 15 years before finding my way back to BC. I have made a long-term commitment to this community and our campus – it’s my home. I have also had the great opportunity to work with colleagues all over our university, in the arts and sciences, and the applied sciences. I collaborate across disciplines in research, graduate supervision, and administration.  Since joining UBC Okanagan I have served on a range of faculty and university committees and hold an appointment in two departments – Earth, Environmental and Geographic Sciences; and Community, Culture and Global Studies. This provides the multi-disciplinary experience that helps me understand and represent a wide variety of perspectives.  It also helps me appreciate the distinct needs and challenges that colleagues working in different fields face in their work. Choosing the next Deputy Vice Chancellor will determine not only the tone of administration, but it will shape what our campus and our workplace becomes and the role of faculty members in helping to define those outcomes. I am putting my name forward to serve on this committee to help bring different viewpoints to the table, and to help ensure that as we move forward as a campus and community we do so with responsive and accountable leadership
