Candidate Information

Brock McKillop

The purpose of this statement is to demonstrate my interest in being on the President’s Advisory Committee. My name is Brock Mckillop, a 3rd year Business Management Student, who is passionate about the school community in which I am a member of. For the past two years I have been heavily involved within the Management Faculty being a member of both JDC West and the Management Students Association. These commitments take up 40+ hours a week, but I believe that by doing them I am not only advancing my own education but enriching the academic experience for other students and providing value along the way. I am a hard-working student who has demonstrated effective time management skills as I balance multiple commitments at the same time. I consider myself a leader having recently completed a trip where I led 58 MGMT students from UBCO to Calgary for 4 days for a business trip.
I wish to apply for this role as I am invested in UBC and believe I represent its values as an undergraduate student, and desire to expand my involvement into a broader role outside of the Management Faculty. I care about the future of this institution and wish to serve on the committee so that I can help to positively influence the choices made in leadership going forward.

Nicole Michalewicz

Nicole Michalewicz is a second year Arts student here at UBC Okanagan. She recently handed in her paperwork to be accepted to the PPE (Philosophy, Politics, & Economics) major and is also working to complete a Psychology minor. Nicole has been involved in many parts of the school as she currently holds three club executive positions, has volunteered at numerous events, hosted the by-election debate for the VP Finance, and is working as a Notetaker and Collegia Assistant at the Global Collegium. Anyone who knows Nicole will probably tell you she is one of the busiest people you will ever meet, but also one of the most determined. Once she commits to something, she is dedicated to it. She is a hard-working individual who loves UBC Okanagan and the student body found within it.

If elected to this committee, Nicole will take a firm stance to ensure the elected Provost and Vice-President Academic provides clear leadership for the university’s academic strategy, budgetary and planning processes. It is important that this committee selects the most qualified candidate to oversee all roles, including overseeing UBC’s academic programs and support functions, faculty affairs, enrollment, sustainability and information technology. Nicole believes that with her previous experience and diverse exposure to many of the university’s workings, she can best represent the undergraduates at UBC Okanagan and be an asset to this committee to select a strong candidate for this role. Thank you for your consideration.
