Stephen Petrina, Professor, Curriculum & Pedagogy

Climate change and now Covid-19? Everything is changing. Sure enough, it’s due time for a change in the Faculty of Education leadership. I’ll serve on this advisory committee against business as usual and for a new Dean and administration that can do things differently. Differently now means doing things with significantly less admin bloat and bureaucracy. Differently now means uniting rather than dividing. Differently now means much less repression and much more expression. And so on. My preference and tendency on this advisory committee will be to listen to faculty, staff, and students and channel your insights into real change. Admittedly, I’d be the academic socialist and environmentalist on the committee. I’m a Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Pedagogy and began at UBC in 1996. My expertise includes media & technology studies along with critical university studies. This experience and expertise put me in a good position to respond to your recommendations.
