Hello.  My name is Suzanne Scott and I am a proud alumna of the Faculty of Education where I completed my PhD on the topic of Canadian Philanthropy in Higher Education.  I am very excited to be nominated for the position of Staff Representative to the UBC Board of Governors.

As Assistant Dean, Development & Alumni Engagement at the Faculty of Education, I have the opportunity to interact with many prominent donors to the university and have developed professional relationships with faculty and staff across both the Point Grey and Okanagan campuses.  I view my role as a “Pracademic.” By this I mean that I value and appreciate the world of research and teaching as well as the discipline and professionalism of the business of higher education advancement and alumni engagement.

My academic and fundraising expertise together with my volunteer leadership experience across the city would bring a fresh perspective to the Board of Governors table.  I am extremely tactful and an unwavering champion of UBC.  I also have strong inter-cultural competencies which would be valuable to the Board. I was born in Tunisia into a Canadian diplomatic family and educated in Venezuela, Canada, Germany, Indonesia and Australia.

I currently serve on the Vancouver Academy of Music Board and served for two years on the Non-Partisan Association municipal political party board and three years on the Britannia Community Service Centre Board.
