New! UBC Advising Professional Development Series
As an alternative to the annual Advising Conference, this year we are excited to be piloting a new UBC Advising Professional Development Series. Rather than a single day event during reading week, the new pro-d series will run over multiple weeks, from mid Feb to mid May. The series will feature ongoing speaker events, panels, workshops and small group discussions open to all members of UBC's advising community.
We have chosen four themes for this series that closely align with the goals and priorities found in UBC's Strategic Plan: Shaping UBC's Next Century:
- Anti-racism and advising
The role of UBC's advising community in fulfilling the goals and commitments laid out in UBC's Inclusion Action Plan.
- Decolonization and advising
The role of UBC's advising community in fulfilling the goals and commitments laid out in UBC's Indigenous Strategic Plan.
- Student and Advisor Wellbeing
The role of UBC's advising community in fulling our formal commitment to supporting wellbeing on our campuses through UBC's adoption of the Okanagan Charter.
- Best Practices in Advising
Advising approaches and practices to acheive UBC's strategic goal to inspire and enable students through excellence in advising.
When will registration for the series open?
- Initial registration opens Monday, Feb 8, 2021.
- More sessions will be added each week, so check back often!
