By-elections to fill vacancies on the Vancouver Senate for the remainder of the 2023-2026 triennium (a term ending 31 August 2026) are currently underway. Nominations are open for the following positions:

  • One (1) Faculty Member Representative of the Faculty of Education
  • One (1) Faculty Member Representative of the Peter A. Allard School of Law 
  • Two (2) Joint Faculties Representatives

Eligibility 

For these elections, faculty members with the ranks of Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, Professor of Teaching, Associate Professor of Teaching, Assistant Professor of Teaching, or Lecturer are eligible to be nominated, to nominate candidates, and to vote. Clinical, adjunct, emeritus, sessional, partner, and honorary faculty are not eligible. 

For the Faculty of Education and Peter A. Allard School of Law elections, faculty members must also have an academic appointment in the Faculty or School. 

For the Joint Faculties elections, faculty members may hold an academic appointment in any Faculty. Joint appointments are not required.

Submitting a Nomination

Nominations close at 4 pm on Wednesday 16 July 2025.

Instructions for completing and submitting nominations are on the form itself. Forms and statements should be scanned and emailed to UBC Elections at elections.information@ubc.ca by the deadline above. Word limits are strictly observed and late nominations will not be accepted. The receipt of all nominations will be confirmed via e-mail within two business days of the close of nominations.
